Director's Corner
All of our librarians are busy with the final push of putting together our amazing Summer Reading Program, which will start June 1st. We hope to see everyone then!
Did You Know? KPL’s Summer Reading Program is open to all ages birth to adult. We have weekly prize drawings for all ages and grand prize drawings at the end of the summer. All of the reading logs are done electronically through ReadSquared, where you will also find fun missions, games, and more. We look forward to seeing you often for a very busy summer at the Library!

Staff Pick from Jesse Kwaidan (1965) is an internationally acclaimed movie based on the Japanese folk tale collections of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn (1850 – 1904). An anthology of four ghost stories, it is a hauntingly beautiful film that has influenced numerous directors, including Francis Ford Coppola and Guillermo del Toro. The Krum Public Library has the 2-DVD Criterion Collection release of the movie in our circulating collection. We also have a graphic novel adaptation of Lafcadio Hearn’s folktales, The Faceless Ghost and Other Macabre Tales from Japan, which includes two of the stories featured in the movie. Hearn’s original book Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things (1904) is available as an ebook through Freading, one of the electronic resources we offer our patrons. If you enjoy eerie films with striking visual elements, you can’t go wrong with this classic of Japanese cinema.
