Mason’s Musings June 2nd, 2023

Summer Reading is finally upon us! After weeks of me raving about it you all can finally experience it for yourself, and relish all the fun prizes and events we will have. The SRP is going to be chock-full of events geared towards a variety of age groups – even adults can join in on the fun!

Our recurring events will include:

Fridays TNT Time, a time for tweens and teens to learn new skills, have fun or just hang out every Friday at 1 PM.

Tuesdays Drop-In STEAM, stop by the library anytime between 11 AM to 2 PM to make or participate in a fun science activity.

Wednesdays Children’s Hour, story-time crafts, songs, and movement activities with Ms. Katie every Wednesday at 10 AM

Wednesdays Tales with Teachers, story-time for school aged children provided by KISD educators every Wednesday at 1 PM

Thursdays Evenings at the Library, every Thursday at 6 PM come join in the fun with hands on activities and skills or games and trivia. (Some Evenings at the Library are for 10+ and require pre-registration as we are limited to 20 spots)

This year’s theme is “All Together Now” and it’s all about community, friendship, compassion, togetherness, and helping others in and outside of your community. We have a beautiful display of books and DVD’s that represent these ideas so make sure to give them a look.

In the spirit of community, we’re hoping that our wonderful “Krummunity” (hah, get it?) will come together for a little spirited competition with Sanger! That’s right it’s the Battle of the Books rematch with Sanger Public Library. Anyone can help contribute to the total amount of books read and anything is fair game. Audiobooks, picture books, instructional manuals, you read it and it will contribute to the overall score!

Some patrons may have already noticed a new member that has been added to the KPL family, he’s green, has wings, and is cuddlier and fluffier than his predecessor. Library Dragon has a new look, and he’s more adorable than ever. Just make sure not to feed him

(he gets a tummy ache when he eats too much, and we’re almost out of tums.)

We hope you all make the most out of your summer, whether that’s spending every other day here at the library, going outside and enjoying nature, or making memories that will last forever. Whatever you decide to do with your summer just remember to be kind to yourself and to those around you, because when kindness is spread we all become just a little more connected.
